An old friend returns.

I know I should be tidying and cleaning - since my house is about to be subjected to an American invasion (we can't wait!) - BUT it's the first time I've seen the keys on my piano for a very long time and I just couldn't resist...  Mostly it's been closed with piles of the kids' artwork on top, which begs the question "what do you DO with all that art?!" Any top tips anyone?

Beyond the weekend..

I thought you might like some photographic evidence of some of my Saturday night antics... First up the lovely tunics made from proper vintage Laura Ashley needlecord (huge thanks to Julia for giving me an amazing stash found in her attic!). Thanks, too, to Jess at 'Craftiness is not Optional' for inspiring me to create these tops. Clearly my hand sewing wasn't up to much, since two of the three buttons on C's top fell off (!), so here are some pics of Isabel's instead: Next up my covered tins. I'm really pleased with the way these turned out. One is an old Altoid box and the other once held espresso. The lovely paper is from Liberty in London... And finally, the binoculars for the toddlers at Little Me! Well, they were an absolute hit with all of them, but especially my little explorer! "My can see you!" Oh, sorry, no photos of the Lavender Cupcakes. Needless to say, they didn't get made for Sunday but didn't last long enough

Picture the scene...

This is pretty much my evening: The girls are in bed, pre-dinner lemondrop martini in hand, homemade cannelloni for dinner - about to be served, catching up on The Good Wife (season 2) on my laptop, waiting for the glue to dry on my newly covered tins (photos tomorrow when they're dry), ham cooking in the oven, lavender stewing in milk ready for making lavender cupcakes tomorrow, a pile of cut-out pieces of Laura Ashely fabric waiting to be sewn, oh, and some binocular pieces waiting for the finishing touches for Monday's Little Me toddlers. Phew! I think I might forget the ironing for tonight... All thoughts of an early night shattered. (But I'm loving it!) Hope you're having as much fun where you are!
